MMSC29 - It's A Small World

Happy Thanksgiving Week to you! It's week #29 at Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge! For my card this week, I chose It's A Small World digi stamp. Since the beginning of the store, I have gained friends from all over the world. This image reminds me of my friends and I thought it was so cool to use different countries flags. The flags are so colorful and beautiful. With it being Thanksgiving week, I find myself THANKFUL for my friends.

I apologize for the short post today. I am just not feeling well. A few more days and maybe I'll be back to myself again.
Have a wonderful week and Thanksgiving Day!

MMSC28 - Christmas Tree Children

Happy Tuesday! It's week 28 of Midnight Madness!! How many of you are starting your Thanksgiving festivities this weekend? We are having our first dinner this Saturday. Looking forward to it....but not the scales the next day! LOL! The season begins...

I used one of Jess's new Vintage Vanities images released last week. This one is Christmas Tree Children. I love his little bum! Reminds me of my boys when they were a little smaller. :) I colored the image with Copics on Neenah 80# Paper which is #1 recommended for use with Copics by Marianne Walker. I now carry this in my store in many different packaged quantities and will be carrying Copics in the next couple of weeks as well! I also used touches of Stickles for that little bit of Christmas Sparkle!

This sweet charm says BELIEVE. It's so magical to be young and to BELIEVE in all the magic of Christmas. My kids eyes just light up when we talk about Christmas. Yes, they LOVE the gifts but they also know it's Jesus's birthday! Kids are so fun at Christmas time.

These flowers started out white! They are the Chelsea White Prima flowers. The red one I colored with a red Copic marker and the green one I airbrushed in the Copic Certification class. I don't know if you can tell from the photo if you click on it and make it larger but when you use the markers to airbrush, they almost get a metallic sheen. I'm not sure why but am curious enough to ask the folks at Copics!

And now for the BIG NEWS!!! From this week's sketch challenge, each of the Design Team members will be choosing a card from this week's entries to be featured on their blog during the Blog Hop. So along with doing the regular sketch challenge, we are asking you to make a "CHRISTMAS CARD" this week. One of our lovely Design Team members will be contacting you after the close of the challenge to let you know that your card has been chosen to be featured on their blog for our Christmas Blog Hop. You will need to participate in the Blog Hop to have your name put in a drawing for a special prize at the end of the Hop. Please let your Design Team Hostess know that you will be able to attend the Blog Hop to be eligible to win the prize.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a WONDERFUL week!

Tutorial Part 2 of 2 - Making a Real Wood Frame Window

Welcome to Tutorial Part 2 of 2. If you missed Part 1, you can find it HERE. If you were happen to catch the previous tutorial, you know that I left off with the photo above. So, let's get at it! :)

I removed the strips off the Scor-Tape and placed a piece of acetate over the entire image. You can see the glare/reflection of the light on this photo.

I trimmed both the card stock and acetate to the size I wanted. I again, applied strips of Scor-Tape on top of the acetate this time.

I used scraps of Hickory Wood Paper pre-cut strips left over from previous projects.

I laid the strips of wood on the adhesive and cut them to size.

For the window pane wood, I just cut one of the 1/2" strips in half and made them 1/4" strips. I cut them to length and applied glue to the backs. Window Frame complete!

Tutorial Part 1 of 2 - Printing Digi's on Designer Paper

Welcome to Tutorial Part 1 of 2. The card above was a the Cardinal digi printed on designer paper, colored and embossed to what you see here. Grab a couple of your favorite beverage and read along! If you have any questions, please email me or post them below. Part 2 of 2 will be posted tomorrow. Same time, same place! :)

This is a before shot of the Stampin Up Designer paper I used to print the Cardinals on. It was 12 x 12 and I did cut it down to 8-1/2 x 11 to fit in my printer.

It is hard to see, but it's there. This image works well for this technique since the majority of it was embossed.

I printed 2 images side by side on the green paper and then also on white card stock. I wanted to cut the cardinals out so they did not have the green star pattern on their bodies.

First, I colored the pine needs with Copics G28. Then I used my super OLD embossing pen that I love to put the embossing fluid where I wanted my embossing powder to stick. It has a blue tint so you can see where I used it. Yes, I hate to admit it but this pen has to be about 10 years old!

I poured on Snowflake Embossing Tinsel, shook the excess back into the container and heat set the glittery powder.

I added Star Dust Stickles to the star shapes on the background designer paper.

Here, I colored the Cardinals on the White card stock with Copics R27 and blended with the Colorless blender. I cut them out with my craft knife and glued them in place.

I used Scor-Tape to frame the image.
This completes Part 1 of 2. Tomorrow I will show you how I made the real wood window frame.
Have a wonderful day!!
