Real Wood Paper - Sympathy Card

My wood paper suppliers son passed away this week after a battle with colon cancer. He will be laid to rest tomorrow next to his brother that passed away several years ago during a Missions trip in Jamaica. They will be next to each other on the hill overlooking the family's 200 acres. It's amazingly beautiful land. The family are strong believers and truly seem at peace. They are definitely an inspiration to me.

I wanted to make them a sympathy card using their Rosewood Wood Paper. I wanted it masculine for their son but also feminine for his mother. I think with the wood, the copper embossed hinge stamps that I found at CHA (super cool stamps!!!), and the dark brown card stock I covered the masculine side. Then I tried my Scallop and Embossing Fiskars punch on the cream card stock for the feminine flair. I was going to make the piece with the scripture on it a removable bookmark, but in my haste...I glued it down. Aaawww, well. Not sure how I would have attached it anyway! LOL! But I think I really like how this one turned out.

Thanks for stopping and have a Wonderful Weekend!

How sad... One thing that I ponder often is why things like this happen to good people... Your card is very beautiful, and I'm sure they will be appreciative. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Sue, Don't know if your familiar with the Somerset Life magazine but it's an awesome magazine to inspire us crafters. On the back there's a section for upcoming challenges and one of them is for the use of wood in your creation. I immediately thought of you since you're the queen of beautiful wood creations.....it's on page 140 and the deadline is 2/2010. Have a great day!

Abby:)
