Mmmmm.....Mocha Lava Cakes

My oldest son (8) loves to cook italian food and deserts.  He received a beautiful Hershey's Chocolate Cookbook for Christmas from his Grandparents.  I told him to pick out one recipe and I would get the ingredients to make it.  Well, he chose Mocha Lava Cakes because they look like a chocolate volcano ....let's blow up chocolate in Mom's Kitchen. (thankfully that didn't happen!!)  We spent 3 hours making these little treats today.  We haven't tasted them yet, but I'll give you the full report.  :)  They smell amazing so I'm sure they won't disappoint!

Yummy! By he likes to cook, since he's only eight I assume it's mom and son like to cook, right? It's fun though because he'll be cooking italian for dinner all by himself in no time!!!

Yes Christine, this apple didn't fall far from the tree. He gets his love for italian food and deserts from Mom. :) I don't think I could ever get enough basil or garlic. YUM! He created his first recipe at about age 5...kicking myself for not saving it now. I do still have the picture he drew for Giada (on Today Show and Food Network) when he was 5. It's so cute. He still asks to watch her show. He already has plans for opening a pizza place here in our tiny town. I hope we can help him do it. Our middle son is going to build a robot to deliver the pizza's. (he's a robot engineer not a physical worker kind of guy...LOL!) And our baby girl says she's going to be the server. They have their whole business plan figured out...8,6,5...wish I would have been that forward thinking at their ages. ;)

They look marvelous! I don't think I could wait long to try them. You know quite warm with the vanilla ice cream on top melting down over the cake. YUMMY!
